How to use the number

When the number is lower than it should be

Seeing your real hourly rate is often the moment people decide to ask for more. Asking is the hard part. The Offer Kit ($29) gives word-for-word lines for countering an offer and handling pushback, plus Call Mode for the live conversation. One-time purchase, 14-day refund.

How do I convert an annual salary to an hourly rate?

Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year). With a standard 40-hour week and 52 paid weeks, that is salary ÷ 2,080. This page does that arithmetic only.

Why does it ask for weeks worked?

If you are paid for 52 weeks, use 52. If you want to see your rate per hour actually worked after unpaid time off, enter fewer weeks. The result changes because the same salary is spread over fewer hours.

Does this include taxes or benefits?

No. It converts gross base pay only. For pay after tax, see the take-home pay calculator; for benefits, see the total compensation calculator.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is simple arithmetic on the numbers you enter, not tax, legal, or financial advice.

Guidance only, not legal, financial, or tax advice. The calculator does simple arithmetic on the numbers you enter.
