Take-home pay calculator

Updated November 5, 2026. Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Enter a gross salary or paycheck, optional state tax percent, and a FICA rate. You'll get a rough net estimate and a calm sentence for offer or raise talks. This is an estimate only, not tax advice and not a substitute for payroll.

Estimated take-home$0

How to use the number

What to say when the offer is "competitive"

Gross numbers hide state tax, benefits, and bonus risk. The Offer Kit gives you word-for-word lines for total-comp and counteroffer moments, plus Call Mode for the live conversation. One-time $29, 14-day refund. For bill and paycheck stress calls, see the Bills Kit ($19).

Is this my exact paycheck?

No. It is a rough estimate using a simplified federal withholding model plus an optional flat state percentage. Real paystubs also withhold Social Security, Medicare, pre-tax benefits, local taxes, and other items. Use it to compare offers or raise numbers, not as tax advice.

What federal estimate does this use?

A simple effective-rate sketch: a small standard-deduction-style allowance, then progressive brackets approximated for a single filer. It is intentionally rough so the math stays transparent in the browser. It is not the IRS Publication 15-T method and not a W-4 calculator.

Should I include bonuses or overtime?

Enter a typical weekly or annual gross you care about. For overtime-heavy weeks, use the overtime calculator first, then feed that gross here. Benefits and 401(k) deferrals are not modeled unless you lower the gross yourself.

Guidance only, not legal, financial, or tax advice. The calculator does simple arithmetic on the numbers you enter.
