Hourly to salary converter
Updated November 5, 2026. Runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Convert hourly ↔ annual salary with a 2,080-hour default, plus optional overtime. Use it when an offer, raise, or job switch mixes hourly and salaried numbers. Simple arithmetic only—not a classification or overtime ruling.
How to use the number
- Match the hours assumption to the job (2,080 is common; some roles are closer to 2,000).
- When comparing hourly with OT history to a salary, run both with and without overtime.
- Ask whether the salaried role is exempt, and what the expected weekly hours are.
- Pair with the raise or offer calculators when you need the sentence for the call.
What to say when they quote a different basis
"That hourly is only if you hit overtime," and "Salary already includes those hours," are where these talks stall. The Offer Kit ($29) and the Raise Kit have word-for-word replies plus Call Mode for the live conversation. 14-day refund on both.

How many hours is a full-time salary?
A common U.S. conversion uses 2,080 hours per year (40 hours × 52 weeks). Some employers use 2,000 or exclude unpaid time off. This tool defaults to 2,080 and lets you change it.
Should overtime count toward the salary equivalent?
Only if you regularly work those hours and want an apples-to-apples cash comparison. Optional overtime here uses a simple 1.5× multiplier on the extra weekly hours you enter. It is not a legal overtime determination.
Is salaried always better than hourly?
Not always. Salary can mean more predictability; hourly can mean overtime pay when you are non-exempt. Compare cash, benefits, schedule, and classification carefully. This page only converts the numbers you enter.
Guidance only, not legal, financial, or tax advice. The calculator does simple arithmetic on the numbers you enter.
